Currently I am reading My Sister's Keeper, Anna has already sued her parents, and her father has just told the guardian ad litem that he is on Anna's side. To relieve some of the tension in the house, Brian has taken Anna to live at the fire house for a while. In My Sister's Keeper, Anna's decisions affect not just her life, but everyone else's around her as well. By suing her parents for medical emancipation, she has affected her mother, by making her angry and disappointed. Her father Brian is on board with Anna's decision because he thinks that she has the right to make those decisions for herself. This affects Sara and Brian's relationship because they are fighting on different fronts, one on Anna's and one on Kate's. Kate might die because of Anna's decision, it is hard to tell how she feels because Sara is trying to hide the fact the the lawsuit hasn't been dropped like she told Kate. Obviously, one person's decisions affect almost everyone in their life, whether it be negative or positive, the problem is, only you can make the decision for yourself.
I can relate to Anna's situation because I have made many decision that affect others negatively. One that is currently very significant in my life, was my choice to play rep softball. Me playing rep softball is very hard on my parents because it is a lot of traveling to go to games, in other words, it is a lot of commitment. Also, it has a very high cost. I made this decision but the repercussions affect my whole family. Most weekends we are at the ball diamond for a tournament and soon my mom and I are going to Kelowna for this years road trip tournament. I do not regret this decision at all because I love softball but I just wish that it would be easier for my mom. Just like Anna's situation, my decision affected my mom the most, I think it is because she is the person that holds the household together, the one that always wants everything to be smooth flowing.
YOu see how one's decisions do affect others. At this stage in the game, what do you think this says about the person. What characther traits are being revealed?
ReplyDeletewow jessie, we wrote almost the same thing...
ReplyDeletenext time i think that you should maybe bring in more specific example instead of just saying Brian is on board with Anna's decision because he thinks that she has the right to make those decisions for herself, why is that though?
