My EQs/Macbeth Response

My EQ: What does it mean to be human?

In the play we are shown that being human is believing in superstitions It is in our nature to believe superstitions to some degree. Macbeth shows us that he is human by believing the witches prophecy. The decisions he made in the play were based on his knowledge while keeping the prophecy in mind. I think that this influenced Macbeth a lot because without the witches prophecy I don't think Macbeth would have killed the king. Here we also see that part of being human is being influenced by others' opinions, views and insights.
Another big part of being human is relying on others to guide us. Macbeth relied a lot on Lady Macbeth when he was doubting himself and didn’t know whether killing Duncan was right or wrong. He also relied on the witches by going back to see them because the power given to him (by the witches) was causing him to go insane. I think that Macbeth starts to have these internal conflicts because he is getting mixed up between what is right and wrong. I think that once he saw himself start to get in trouble because of his actions he started to rely heavily on others (mostly the witches) to get him out of the situation (that is why I think that he went back to them the second time).
In our day and time, most of us today still slightly believe in the supernatural but just don’t know it… Some of us read our daily horoscopes or go see fortune tellers and psychics. Secondly, I think that I can speak for everyone when I say that everyday we turn to someone else in our lives and ask for their opinion to help us come to a decision. Whether it is to do with clothes, food, work, school, or what colour someone should dye their hair, we all value what others opinions and are frequently trying to find out what they are. Also, when we turn to others for advice it gives us an opportunity to see things from a different point of view and it helps us tip the scale to help come to a final decision.
